4Cyte Pathology is introducing Warfarin Dosing by SMS for all patients under our Warfarin Care Management. We have made the process very simple and streamlined. Warfarin dosing instructions will now be sent by SMS to your mobile or your nominated carer’s mobile.

How does 4Cyte manage my warfarin
You will have a blood test for an INR test (preferably in the morning) and one of our specialist doctors will review your results and prescribe the required dose of warfarin. We will automatically send an SMS to your nominated mobile phone number with your INR result, new dose of warfarin and your next date of visit.
Is 4Cyte's Warfarin Care Program bulk billed?
For all patients with valid Medicare referrals, 4Cyte Pathology will bulk bill INR and Warfarin management.

What do I do if I don't receive my results via SMS within 24 hours?
If you don’t receive an SMS, take your currently prescribed dose and phone our lab on 13 42 98 and ask to speak to our Warfarin Care team. You should wait at least 48hours to allow us time to process your sample and send you an SMS prior to contacting our lab.
What happens when my result is abnormal?
If your INR result is too low or too high then we will send you an SMS with your result and we may also contact you via phone to discuss your results and dose (as determined by our specialist doctors).
What if I am admitted to hospital or I have other changes to my health?
You must notify us on 13 42 98 without delay if you:
- Are admitted to hospital
- Are discharged from hospital (in these instance the hospital must fill out our ‘Warfarin Care Discharge from Hospital’ form)
- Have any medical or dental procedures
- Have changes to your health
- Have changes to your medications
- Have had your warfarin dose altered by another doctor
How do I change my nominated mobile number, carer or personal details?
Please call our lab on 13 42 98 and ask to speak to our Warfarin Care team and provide us with your new contact details as soon as possible.
